Google will start a new era in Android after Epic court

Ana sayfa /

Google has won a small victory in its latest Android lawsuit with Epic Games. The Play Store policies challenged by Epic Games were rejected by the court. Accordingly, Google will not have to make major changes to Android’s app store policies.

In September last year, a federal judge ruled that Google had used anti-competitive tactics and abused its dominance in the Android app market. The judge ordered Google to allow alternative app stores on Android and end some restrictions on app developers.

Google was given until November 1 to comply with the court order. However, the company argued that it needed more time to avoid disruptions. Last week, Google asked the Judge to stop this deadline while appealing the decision.

This week, the Judge granted the company a temporary administrative stay, except for part of the ruling on agreements between Google and device manufacturers. This decision will remain in effect until the final application of the appeals court.

The move is an unexpected step for companies like Epic Games, which had hoped to see more openness on Android phones. While the appeals process continues, it’s unclear whether Google will face any penalties or restrictions.
